In january 2015 Jonas Yunus Atlas became a board member of the European branch of URI (United Religions Initiative), the world's fastest growing network of interreligious grassroots organisations. The purpose of the United Religions Initiative is to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings.
URI is a global grassroots interfaith network that cultivates peace and justice by engaging people to bridge religious and cultural differences in various local projects. All over the world more than 600 groups have become a member of URI. These members are called Cooperation Circles. Each in their own way work on conflict resolution and reconciliation, environmental sustainability, education, and/or advocacy for human rights.
